WHAT IS THE GENDER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT?

Dear Bro. Waddey:
A brother mentioned in Bible class that some brethren question the gender of the Holy Spirit. He sarcastically alluded to female when I asked him what other gender is under consideration, but stated some feel the Holy Spirit is a neutral gender. He said this is a matter of opinion. Do you have any information about this error?  Inez

Dear Inez:
The words you heard about the gender of the Holy Spirit are typical of those who have been tainted by the feminist philosophy and political correctness. Some  weak-minded men who place little value on the authority of God's Word, have allowed themselves to be influenced by these worldly trends.

When God refers to the Holy Spirit he uses masculine pronouns:
"But the Comforter, even the Holy Spirit...he shall teach you all things (John 14:26).
"When he the Spirit of truth, is come, he shall guide you into all the truth: for he shall not speak from himself; but what things soever he shall hear, these shall he speak.....He shall glorify me: for he shall take of mine, and shall declare it unto you" (John 16:13-14).

In consulting The New Testament from 26 Translations, I find that all of them use the masculine pronouns in the above verses. So the person who says that the gender of the Holy Spirit is a matter of opinion is speaking about what he does not understand or accept.

May God bless you in your desire to remain faithful to his written word.
