DO WE EARN OUR SALVATION?

Dear Tom:
I do not believed that we can in any way earn or merit our salvation (Tit. 3:5). All that we do: faith, repentance, baptism, etc. would be of no saving power had not Christ died for our sins....and freely saved us (Rom. 6:23).  On the other hand Christ has set down certain conditions for salvation and demands our obedience (Matt. 7:21; Heb. 5:8-9).  Thus only those who obey him will be saved. After we are saved, all the good things we do, worship, attendance, giving of our means, evangelizing, etc. will not wash away a single sin. It is by grace we are saved (Eph. 2:8-9).  But if we do not do the things he commands it is proof that we do not love Him (John 14:15).
