Will the Faithful Saints of the Old Testament be Saved?
- Barbara K.
The answer to your question is yes. They, like us, will be saved by the death of Christ on the cross. Hebrews 9:15 says: Christ’s death was “for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first covenant (Old Testament), they that have been called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance.” It was because of the of the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: whom God set forth to be a propitiation, through faith, in his blood, to show his righteousness because of the passing over of the sins done aforetime, in the forbearance of God... that he might himself be just, and the justifier of him that hath faith in Jesus" (Romans 3:25-26).
Those under the Old Covenant had to believe in God and the promised savior who was to come. They had to be faithful in obeying the commands that He gave them.
We have to believe in the Christ who has come and be faithful in obeying him (Hebrews 5:8-9). In Mathew 17:1-5, when Jesus was transfigured, Peter, James and John say; Moses and Elijah, Old Testament worthies, in their glorified state.
In Luke 16:22-30 Jesus told about the righteous man, Lazarus who died and went to be with Abraham in a place of rest and blessing.
Let's do our very best to be strong in our faith and faithful in our obedience so we can be there with all of those righteous souls when our lives on earth are finished. John Waddey |
