THOUGHTS ABOUT A PREACHER'S WORK

Dear Bro. Frank:

As a general rule you should set aside a time in the day for your visiting.  If you are not careful, you can waste valuable time, just chit-chatting with people.  Make you visits as needed, generally they should be brief.  For example hospital visits should be 10-15 minutes. Calls at people's homes will last longer, but if they are sick, those too should be brief. If they have a problem that needs counseling that will take longer.  Few visits should last over 30-45 minutes. Try to plan your visits so that you can make two or three each time you go out, that will save you time.  As to the time of day, each case is different, but generally speaking, afternoons are better than mornings.  You will also do your best studying in the morning hours.

As to studying at home, I would recommend that you close the door to your study room.  Explain to your wife that you need quite to do your work. Take a break on the hour and pay attention to your wife and little ones.  Give them longer time at lunch or in the late afternoon and evening hours.  Your study and your hours for study should be the same at home as if you were at the church building.
