  NEUTRALITY IN REPORTING CHRISTIAN NEWS
The Editor The Christian Chronicle
Dear Editor:
In your attempt to be impartial reporters of what is happening among our people, you are only following the example of the modern secular media. They report in an unemotional, nonjudgmental way the good and the evil events of the day; the corruption of government and the abuse of our judicial system. When some few felt a twinge of patriotic love for America following the 9/11 attacks they wore ribbons of red, white and blue or lapel pins of our nation's flag. Of course they were immediately rebuked by the liberal watchdogs of the press. They were reminded that they should treat the terrorist just as they did our leaders and soldiers because, "they too had a story to tell and a cause to pursue." The mantra is "tell the story and let the people decide." Most of us would agree that this is a sad state of affairs for the secular media. It is worse still for Christian journalists who seek to serve the church by providing information. We know there is truth and error, a right and a wrong in morals and in the faith and practice of the church. The liberal spokespersons of the media have little love for America and its values, thus they have no great interest in her survival. Sadly there is an element among our people who have the same attitude towards Churches of Christ. If by our neutrality the wrong prevails, the church here in America will be corrupted, overwhelmed, and destroyed. Souls that might have been saved will be lost in eternity. Your pleasant and positive interview with Dr. Abraham Malherbe is a good case in point. I am sure that he felt vindicated that now after so many years he is at last getting favorable press in a church whose conviction he does not share.
